Evelyn Commune, age 96, wife of the late John M. Commune Sr. and resident of Seymour, entered into eternal rest Oct. 17, 2018 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Oct. 18, 1921 in Derby, daughter of the late Edward and Rosina Scarpa Coppola.
She worked for Shelton Products, enjoyed watching ‘Jeopardy’ and ‘The Wheel of Fortune’ and was an avid cook and baker. She was a member of the Ansonia, Derby & Shelton Senior Centers where she was an avid bingo player. She also invited friends often to her house to play ‘Kings in the Corner’. A devout Catholic who watched Mass daily, Evelyn was a lifelong parishioner and member of the alter committee at The Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. She volunteered at The Holy Rosary Church Festa for 22 years. She was also a member of St. Anne’s Society Guild.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons John M. Commune Jr. and Joseph Commune, both of Seymour and David Commune of Prentice, ME., as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Carrie Kucher and six brothers Henry, Edward, Ralph, Larry, Emilio & Gerald Coppola.
Friends may call on Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, CT. (http://www.jenkinskingfh.com) Friends and family will meet Monday morning October 22 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will leave for a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at The Holy Rosary Church, 10 Fr. Salemi Drive, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
