Flavio “Flip” Orazietti

Flavio Flip” Orazietti, age 81, entered into eternal life on February 28, 2011 at Griffin Hospital. 

He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Branigan) Orazietti and was a proud member of the Derby community. 

Flavio was born in Shelton on May 8, 1929, son of the late Joseph Orazietti and Maria (Cardinali) Orazietti Toni. 

After graduating from Derby High School, he had the distinction of serving his country with the US Navy during the Korean War. Flip served as the Weights and Measures Clerk for the city of Derby and was employed as Head of Maintenance by Derby Cellular until his retirement. 

He was a dedicated member of the Connecticut Hurricanes Marching Band, the American Legion Sutter-Terlizzi Post, the Knights of Columbus, and was also a devout parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish, where he served as an usher. 

Flip, a cofounder of the monthly Porchetta Dinners, was a prominent member of the Adriatic Marchegian Men’s Club. 

Flavio is loving father of Joseph Orazietti and his wife Marianne, Philip Orazietti and his wife Elizabeth, Michael Orazietti and his wife Maureen, Andrew Orazietti and his wife Karen, and Margaret Salazar and her husband Francisco; the devoted grandfather of Cara Bordonaro and her husband Bryan, Alissa, Philip, Jean, Alan, Thomas, Michael John, Nicole, and Brittany Orazietti, Hugh Zachary, Max Xavier, and Annalisa Salazar; and the great grandfather of Jamie Lynn Orazietti. 

He is also survived by siblings Evo Toni, Samuel Toni, and Vivian McElroy; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Flavio is predeceased by his brother, Olimpio Orazietti. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. 

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. at St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St., Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Flavio’s name be made to the Flavio Orazietti Scholarship Fund to benefit a Derby High School Student c/o the funeral home. Condolences may be left to his family at http://www.adzimafh.com.
