Florence D’Amaro

Florence D’Amaro, age 96, of Medfield, Ma, former longtime resident of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield. She was the devoted wife of the late Louis J. D’Amaro.

Florence was born in Meriden on November 17, 1916, daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Femia) Mesite, and she lived much of her life in Shelton before moving to Medfield 23 years ago.

She cherished and was devoted to her family and loved cooking and being with them. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church while living in Shelton.

She is the beloved mother of Louis M. D’Amaro and his wife Gay and their children Carrie Johnson, Joshua D’Amaro, Andrew D’Amaro, and Abigail D’Amaro; and Richard A. D’Amaro and his children Michael and Amy D’Amaro.

She also leaves nine great grandchildren, two sisters, Nancy Geremia and Theresa Krieger, a brother, Thomas Mesite, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Rose Malevenda, Virginia Neun, and Edith Krauss, and by four brothers, Frank, John, James, and Donald Mesite.

Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Thursday from 8:30 AM to 10 AM. Her funeral procession will then leave for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church in Shelton at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
