Florence Ferrara

Florence Ferrara, age 89, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 15, 2018, at Griffin Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Ferrara.

Mrs. Ferrara was born in Oklahoma on March 25, 1929, daughter of the late Constantine and Velma Vickers Carroll. She began her working career at the former Charlton Press in Derby and later became the owner of News Village in the former Ansonia Mall, until its closing. She retired as secretary at Tubs & Stuff on Clifton Avenue in Ansonia. Florence enjoyed being in her home and meticulously tending to her yard. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Yvette F. Shortell (Kenneth) of Derby and Cynthia Licurse (Charles) of Tucson, AZ, cherished grandsons, Thomas DiGiovanni of Derby and Michael DiGiovanni of TX, brothers, Edward Carroll (Emma) of KY and Wendle Carroll (Joan) of FL and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Arthur and Homer Carroll and sisters, Jewel Lucarelli and Gladys Acampora. 

Visiting hours will be held on Friday May 18, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, her funeral will take place at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Christopher Tiano officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
