Florian “Frank” J. Selling Jr., age 73, of Derby entered into rest on Saturday February 4, 2017 at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Elaine (Gaudreau) Selling. He was born in Bridgeport on February 5, 1943 the son of the late Florian J. Selling Sr. and Mary (Pallo) Selling.
Frank was raised in Stratford before moving to Ansonia as an adult. He the later moved to Derby where he has spent the last 38 years. He was employed in the printing industry and worked for Phoenix Printing until his retirement. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Bridgeport and was the Grand Knight of the 3rd Degree Order and was also a Sir Knight of the 4th Degree Order. He was a dedicated member of the choir Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Woodbridge and was very active in the church. He was an avid golf player who taught his youngest grandson Travis how to play the sport. He also taught his eldest grandsons, Justin and Ryan, how to drive and ride a bike.
Besides his wife Elaine, he is survived by his daughter Dawnmarie Hunter and her husband Dennis, his grandsons, Justin Hunter and his wife Amber, Ryan Hunter and his fiance Sarah Lefrancois, and Travis Hunter, his brother Joseph Selling and his wife Marcie. He is also survived by John Delprete, who was like a son, and his wife Christine, and Christopher Selling. He was predeceased by his sister Maryann Vantassell.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of VNA of South Central and Smilow Cancer Center for their loving care up until the end.
Friends are invited to greet Frank’s family on Friday February 10, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street Derby. On Saturday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 am for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Road Woodbridge. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
In lieu of flowers, Frank’s family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Smilow Cancer Center, 20 York Street New Haven, CT 06519.
