Floyd A. Morey Jr., age 70, entered eternal rest on October 7, 2023, at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT. He was the beloved husband of forty-five years to Janet Dell’Orso Morey.
Floyd was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 16, 1952, son of the late Floyd A. Morey Sr. and Genevieve Smith Morey. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1970 and served his country in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge in 1974. He studied Criminal Justice at Housatonic Community College and went on to graduate from the Connecticut Police Academy. Floyd was employed by the Ansonia Police Department serving as a Patrolman, later Detective Sergeant and retired as a Lieutenant in 2004.
During his career, he was assigned to the CT Statewide Narcotic Task Force and worked with the Valley Drug and Alcohol Task Force. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Castleton, VT where his love and expertise in police work earned him a job at Castleton University as a Public Safety Officer. He was currently serving as Town Constable and Fire Police in Hubbardton, VT. In his off-time, he loved to play golf.
In addition to his wife Janet, he leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Jacqueline Rossetti (Paul) of Seymour, CT, Amy Morey-Krakow and Amanda Gardner of FL, sons, Floyd A. Morey III of Plymouth, CT, and Thomas R. Morey of TN, grandchildren, Gabrielle Rossetti, Michael Rossetti, Jacob Morey, Mia Morey, Benjamin Gardner, Madland Federico, Nicholas Morey and Thomas Morey as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert, David and Rudolph Kamppilla and a sister, Theresa Kamppilla.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, his funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia.
