Frances Elizabeth Ballantyne, age 103 of Derby, beloved wife of the late Arthur Scott Ballantyne, died peacefully on March 6, 2025 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Ansonia on December 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Jessie Ogden Ireland.
Mrs. Ballantyne was a graduate of Ansonia High School and worked in the payroll department of the Farrel Co, prior to starting her family. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Ansonia where she served in the Ladies’ Club and sang in the church choir. She will be long remembered as a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her devoted children, Scott Arthur Ballantyne of FL, Cynthia (Paul) Sardo of Ansonia, Nancy Triantafillos of Oxford, Kathy Ballantyne of SC, Sandra (Ronald) Luneau of Long Island, NY and Lisa Ballantyne of Derby; a sister, Marjorie (George) Hulstrunk of NJ; cherished grandchildren, Scott A. Ballantyne, Jr., Amy Reed, Amanda Dinsmore, Caitlyn Jersey, Michael Sardo, Arthur Joseph “AJ” Cardella, Dr. Jessie Calvanese, Renee Sheckfee and Ronald Luneau, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Landen & Caden Dinsmore, Lillyana & Dallas Reed, and Ava Sheckfee. In addition to her husband of 69 years, Mrs. Ballantyne was predeceased by a son-in-law, Robert Triantafillos; a sister, Betty Carney; and brothers, William and Harvey “Bey” Ireland.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
