Frances Kusako Popp

Frances Kusako Popp, 88, of Ansonia, beloved wife of John E. Popp, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 2, 2010, at the Griffin Hospital in Derby. 

Mrs. Popp was born in Ansonia on February 6, 1922, daughter of the late William and Ann Wasik Kucejko. A lifelong resident of Jewett Street in Ansonia, she was employed in the upholstery department at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for 30 years until her retirement in 1984. Frances was devoted to her family and a proud second mother to her many nieces and nephews. She was a communicant of the St. Joseph’s Church in Ansonia where she married her husband John on September 14, 1963. 

In addition to her husband John, she is survived by a brother, Joseph Kusako of Southbury, 2 sisters, Jeanne Bohdan of Ansonia and Peggy Kuzia of Shelton, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Stanley, Herbert, William, Edward, and Fred Kusako and sisters, Julianna Mallon, Alfreda Van Aken, and Lucille Chlebowski. 

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday November 11, 2010 at 9:00 am at the St. Joseph’s Church, 32 Jewett Street, in Ansonia. Inurnment will follow in the family plot in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Per Fran’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Church.
