Francesca “ Mimi” DiGiorgi, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2019 while at Bridges by Epoch in Trumbull.
She was born in New York City on September 15, 1937 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Valentine) Jedrison.
She married Francis J. DiGiorgi on November 18, 1961 and lived in Yonkers, NY. After giving birth to her only child Nicole, they all moved to Yorktown Heights, NY. She was happily married and loved being a mother.
After her husband Frank’s sudden passing in November 1998, Francesca moved to Shelton in 1999 to live with her daughter’s family.
Francesca loved her many German Shepherds (Misty, Sindy, Bravo, Paris, Mitaki and Kimoto). She was a devout Catholic. She also loved politics, animals, skiing and fishing.
She chose to be stay at home mother and spent many hours volunteering over her lifetime.
She was the beloved mother of Nicole DiGiorgi Chavez, treasured mother-in-law to Nicole’s husband Trent, and cherished Nonni to her three grandchildren, Taylor (23), Sierra (20) and Dakota (16). She is predeceased by her sister Jeannette M. Jedrison.
Friends and family may greet her family on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. On Monday, August 12, 2019 her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 420 Coram Avenue, Shelton. Her burial will be in Amawalk Hill Cemetery, Yorktown Heights, NY.
