Francis Joseph Rak, age 80, of Derby entered into rest on Friday, September 30, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of 56 years to Sandra (Fritz) Rak. Francis was born in Derby on July 2, 1942, son of the late Joseph and Clara (Smolen) Rak, and was a lifelong Derby resident. He proudly served as a military policeman with the US Army from 1963 – 1965 stationed in Germany. He started his career as a Newspaper Pressman with the New Haven Register Newspaper before working at The Boston Globe for over 40 years.
He was the brother of John Rak and his wife Monica and Maryanne DeTullio and her late husband Lawrence. Francis was the uncle of Adam Rak and his wife Allison, Michael Rak and his wife Claire, Aaron Rak and his husband Amr El-Shimi, Catherine DeTullio and Andrew DeTullio and his wife Christina and was also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
On Wednesday, friends may greet the family from 9:00 — 10:15 AM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. His funeral will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Church.
