Frank C. Wanzie, age 71, of Ansonia, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He is the beloved husband of 50 years of Diane M. (Clark) Wanzie. Frank was born in Bridgeport on December 13, 1950, son of the late Frank B. and Irma (Kolesar) Wanzie, and lived in Ansonia since 1975, but grew up in Pine Rock Park in Shelton.
Frank served in the US Army National Guard, and worked hard as a heavy machinery operator in the construction field. He enjoyed a simple life, fishing, Nascar, green lawns and cold beer. Frank liked listening to country music and Elvis. He was a skilled woodworker and liked taking care of his pool. If he was working outside, his shirt was off. He was lovingly referred to by many as The Chief or Cowboy Frank, but his favorite name was Pappy, which each of his five granddaughters called him.
He is the beloved father of Jodi Sinisgalli and her husband Michael, Kristen Wanzie, and Frank Wanzie and his wife Yajaira Gonzalez Wanzie, and proud grandfather of Raina, Makenna, and Teagan Sinisgalli, Aaliyah Wanzie, and Aria Wanzie. He also leaves two brothers, Dennis and Michael Wanzie, two sisters Kathy Walsh and Judy Wanzie, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Susan Wanzie.
