Frank Henry Sauermann

Frank Henry Sauermann, age 85 of Naugatuck, a former longtime Seymour resident, entered peaceful rest September 25, 2013 at the West Haven Veteran’s Administration Medical Center; he was the beloved husband of fifty five years to Barbara (Irving) Sauermann.

Mr. Sauermann was born October 12, 1927 in Shelton, son of the late Franz H. and Bertha O. (Rublemann) Sauermann.

He was a retired Professional Photographer, and also was a retired Supernumerary Police Officer with the Seymour Police Department. Frank founded the former Village Photo Hut in Seymour which he operated for many years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, and a former member of the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion. Mr. Sauermann was a communicant of the Seymour Evangelical Baptist Church and enjoyed playing harmonica in the praise band there; he was a former communicant of the Seymour United Methodist Church, and was a member of the choir there.

Frank was a former member of the Seymour Republican Town Committee, and had formerly served as Police Commissioner. He was a member and did volunteer work at the Ansonia Rod and Gun Club.

Besides his wife Frank leaves his loving family including his daughters, Sylvia Aulenti and her husband Frank of Monroe, and Amanda Mayes and her husband Jonathan of Middlebury, and four grandchildren, Frank and Gabriel Aulenti, and Tristan and D’Artagnan Mayes; he also leaves a special family member, Thomas H. George and his wife Karen of Wethersfield.

Services will be announced. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour is entrusted with the arrangements.
