Frank Osak, Jr., age 90, of Shelton peacefully entered into rest on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 66 years of Navia Marie (Cornachini) Osak.
Frank was born in Derby on January 19, 1928, son of the late Frank and Julia Osak, Sr., and lived in Shelton for over 50 years.
He was an avid skier and considered Vermont his second home and was a member of the Adriatic Marchegian Club. He had a successful career that began at Sponge Rubber and then BF Goodrich. Frank then worked for Derby Cellular Products where he retired as CEO. He joined the Griffin Hospital as a corporator in 1966, and served as Trustee, then VP, and Chairman of the Hospital Board for four terms.
Frank’s service to the City of Shelton was even more extensive. He was first elected to the Planning and Zoning Commission in 1960, and he served on the board until 2017. During his tenure he chaired the review of Shelton’s Plan of Conservation and Development and was involved in adopting the Route 8 plan. He was an original member of the Shelton Economic Development Corporation, and was recognized for his contributions to the city by numerous Public officials.
He is the beloved father of Michael Osak and his wife Donna. He also leaves his sister, Joan Stanko, his step-grandson Gabriel Baker, three great-grandchildren, Kalya, Joshua, and Jeremy Baker, his sister-in-law Marie Osak, as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great great nephew. He was predeceased by his son Francis Osak, brother Henry Osak, brother-in-law John Stanko, and step-granddaughter Renee Baker.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. On Wednesday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Lawn Cemetery.
