Franklin A. Ahlgren

Franklin A. Ahlgren, age 86, beloved husband of 64 years to Bernice J. (Bowen) Ahlgren of Oxford, entered into peaceful rest on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Griffin Hospital, Derby.

He was the son of the late Hugo and Estelle (Anderson) Ahlgren and was born on December 13, 1926 in Bridgeport. Mr. Ahlgren was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was a former member of Oxford Center Fire Co.

In addition to his devoted wife, Mr. Ahlgren leaves his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Cirino of Waterbury, Stepheny Cappel, Robert Dickinson, Jr. both of FL, Harold Dickinson of Oxford, Sue Dickinson-Plaskon of Naugatuck and great niece and nephew, Ashley DeBarber of Waterbury and John W. Plaskon of Naugatuck He also leaves many additional great nieces and nephews in FL and his cousins, Kurt and Jean Hilzinger of Trumbull. His brothers, Robert and Kenneth Ahlgren predeceased him.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, October 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Committal will be private.
