Fred L. Falcha, 86, beloved husband of Antoinette Garguilo Falcha, peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 9, 2013, in his home, with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Falcha was born in Derby on May 23, 1927, son of the late Joseph and Assunta Giarratano Falcha. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was employed as a machine operator at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for 35 years, until his retirement in 1989. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean Conflict. For 18 years, Fred and Antoinette enjoyed spending their winters in Stuart, FL. Fred was an avid gardener and NY Mets fan and was a member of the Ansonia Senior Center.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Fred Falcha (Susan) of Milford, a daughter, Susan Savino (Christopher) of Ansonia, a brother, Albert Falcha (Mary Lou) of Oxford, 6 cherished grandchildren, Chrissy Picheco (David) of Ansonia, Jason Savino (fiancé Molly Bentley) of Seymour, Carrie Savino of Naugatuck, Anthony Falcha (Christine) of Wallingford, Mark Falcha and Nicholas Falcha of Milford, 4 great-grandchildren, Cameron Hunt, Ava Richter, Kayla Picheco , Jesse Savino, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Falci, Michael Falcha, Samuel Falcha and Angelo Falcha and sisters, Mary Macchio and Rose Robertson.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday September 12, 2013, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral at 8:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Entombment with U.S. Navy military honors will take place in Mt. St. Peter’s Garden Mausoleum in Derby.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to Vitas Hospice through the funeral home.
