Fred S. Roog

Fred S. Roog, 91, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Clara Belcinski Roog, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at the CT Hospice in Branford.

Mr. Roog was born in Derby on Oct. 23, 1917 son of the late Peter and Aniela Garbien (Rog) Roog.

A lifelong resident of Shelton, he was employed as an engine inspector at the Avco Lycoming in Stratford, later as a driver for the U.S. Postal Service in New Haven and in Seymour and retired as an inspector for the Dept. of the Navy at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. Fred was a veteran of World War II, honorably serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 in Shelton.

He is survived by three sons, Donald M. Roog, Robert A. Roog, and Richard D. Roog, a daughter Barbara Roog, a brother Walter Roog, a sister Cecilia Rafalowski, a grandson Robert Roog and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Fred Roog Jr., brothers Peter and John Roog, and a sister, Pauline Roog.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial mass of Christian Burial on Saturday Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. at the St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Avenue in Derby.

Per Fred’s request, there will be no visiting hours and burial will be private.
