Frederick M. Parkins

Frederick M. Parkins, 66, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2011, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Elaine Castaldi Parkins for thirty-one years. 

Mr. Parkins was born in Derby on April 27, 1945, son of Helen Nebesny Parkins of Shelton and the late Frederick J. Parkins. Fred attended Shelton High School and later joined the Merchant Marines, where he traveled throughout Europe. For most of his life, he was employed as a tractor trailer driver and also worked in the construction industry. Fred was an artist and taught oil painting classes at his Artworks Studio” in Derby for 12 years. He lived life to the fullest and had a passion for fishing and motorcycle riding. Fred truly loved and enjoyed many wonderful friends throughout the years. 

In addition to his wife Elaine and mother Helen, he is survived by a step-daughter, Lisa Lee, granddaughters, Christina and Sarah Jones, great-granddaughter, Delainna Morel, brothers, Richard Parkins and his wife Dianne, Wayne Parkins and his wife Glacia, and Howard and Glenn Parkins, a niece, and several nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers. The family sends a heart-felt thanks to Dr. Jeremy Kortmansky, Dr. Lim, CT Hospice nurses and aides, Griffin Hospital Hospice care staff and family members and friends, for their support and love. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Fred’s funeral service and celebration of his life on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until the service begins. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sahara Club in Ansonia through the funeral home.
