Gabriel Charles DeRosa

Gabriel Charles DeRosa, age 82, of Shelton, and Vero Beach, FL passed away February 25, 2014 after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Gabriel was born in New Haven on June 28, 1931 son of the late Charles and Margaret (Morrentino) De Rosa, and was a longtime Stratford resident.

A devoted family man, Gabriel was the owner and operator of the former Villa Rosa and Westward Ho Restaurants in the Woodmont Section of Milford for over 32 years. He was an avid golfer and, he will be especially remembered as a diehard Boston Red Sox fan! 

Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years Therese C.(Sedensky) DeRosa; daughters Christine DeRosa and Justine Bourdeau-Stratoudakis,(Tony) Stratoudakis; son Greg DeRosa, (Maureen); sisters Maryann Romano and Barbara (Charles) Gorman; brother Charles (Natalie) DeRosa; grandchildren Stephen Lampronikos, Paul Bourdeau, Stephanie Sample, Kevin and Tommy DeRosa; and a great-grandson Stephen Lampronikos, Jr. He is also survived by many nieces,nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, Inc., 4360 North Lake Boulevard Suite 109, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410.

Friends may greet his family on Friday from 4 to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road Shelton. On Saturday his funeral services will be held at a time to be announced.
