Gail J. “May” Mackowski

Gail J. May” Mackowski, 69, of Torrington, formerly of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on April 19, 2013.

Gail was born in Derby on Feb. 25, 1944, daughter of the late Albert and Emilienne Goulet Mackowski.

She attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School in Ansonia, St. Anne’s Academy in MA and Southern CT State University. A resident of Ansonia for most of her life before moving to Torrington, she was employed as a data processing manager at Sikorsky Aircraft, B.F. Goodrich and Blue Cross/Blue Shield, until she retired due to a disability.

Gail was a member of the Polish Falcons in Ansonia and will be remembered for her sense of humor and compassion and love shown to others. Although Gail had only one birth daughter, she was known as mom to many. 

She is survived by a loving daughter, Lori Mackowski, a brother, Richard Mackowski, a grandson, Ken Kusterer, an uncle, Raymond Mackowski, nephew, Kevin Mackowski, niece, Ashley Mackowski and several other family members, friends, and loved ones, including Stacey Sembrowich, whom she considered a daughter. She was predeceased by a brother, Big John” John Mackowski.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to the family and celebrate Gail’s life on Friday April 26, 2013, from 11:00 am until 12 noon in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 12:00 noon, a funeral service will take place. Inurnment will follow in the family plot in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
