Gary S. Bakis Sr.

Gary S. Bakis Sr., 52, of Ansonia, beloved husband of Deborah A. Waterhouse Bakis, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on Friday evening Oct. 30, 2009 at Griffin Hospital in Derby.

Gary was born in Bridgeport on Nov. 16, 1956, son of the late Joseph and Wanda Urbanowicz Bakis. 

A resident of Ansonia for thirty years, he was employed as the chief maintenance engineer at the Marriott Hotel in Shelton. 

Gary was an active member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia serving as a Junior Warden, Communion Minister, and Sunday school teacher. He especially enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and cooking.

Besides his wife Deborah, he is survived by a son, Gary S. Bakis Jr., of Ansonia, a daughter, Denise Bakis, of Ansonia, a brother, Joseph W. Bakis, and his wife Claudia of Orange, a sister, Patricia Slopnick, of Vermont and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday Nov. 5, 2009 at 10 a.m. (DIRECTLY) at the Christ Episcopal Church, 56 South Cliff Street in Ansonia with the Rev. Amy Welin officiating. 

Burial will be private. There are no visiting hours. 

Contributions may be made to the Kathleen Samela Food Bank at the Christ Episcopal Church.
