Genevieve D. (Malerba) Lombardi, age 83, entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, February 22, 2018, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved and devoted wife of sixty-two years to Robert J. Lombardi Sr.
Mrs. Lombardi was born in Derby on May 21, 1934, daughter of the late William and Jennie DePrisco Malerba. A lifelong resident of the Derby community, she worked as a teacher’s aide at Irving School in Derby for many years. She enjoyed watching UConn Men’s & Women’s Basketball, trips to the casino and spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Bob, she is survived by a son, Robert J. Lombardi Jr. of Derby, a daughter, Laura Jean Schroeter (George “Skip”) of Ansonia, cherished grandchildren, Tricia Kevalis (Martin) of Seymour and Christopher Lombardi of Maine, great-grandchildren, Allie and AJ Kevalis, sisters, Margaret Cerritelli of Florida and Matilda Palmieri of Derby and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Vincent “Jim” Malerba Sr. and Aniello “Owney” Malerba Sr.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday February 25, 2018, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday, her funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Avenue in Derby. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
