Genevieve (Jean) Taradine O’Keefe, age 93, of Southbury, formerly of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late Edward J. O’Keefe, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, CT.
She was born in New Britain, CT on May 15, 1924, the daughter of the late William and Mary Tanski Taradine. Jean was a devout communicant of The Church Of The Good Shepherd. She graduated from Seymour High School. Her positive attitude and overwhelming generosity was exemplified throughout her life. Her strength of character and upbeat resolve was apparent in both her belief and action. She was an avid reader, loved to play bingo, and was an active member of the Seymour Senior Center. She helped support her five children by working part time in the office of Stop and Save in Seymour. She will be deeply missed and loving spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Her loving family includes three sons Timothy O’Keefe and his wife Martha of Jacksonville, Fl., Gary O’Keefe and his wife Monserrate of Ansonia and Ryan O’Keefe and his wife Michele of Austin, Tx., a daughter Tami Raspanti and her husband James of Bristol; a sister-in-law Ann Taradine; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Lori Hayden and seven brothers.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 am (Directly) at St. Augustine Cemetery, Cedar St., Seymour. There will be no calling hours. Memorial gifts in memory of Jean made be made to The Emil Senger Post #10, American Legion, through the funeral home. The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street Seymour, is compassionately caring for the family.
