Genevieve “Jennie” (Francini) Grande, age 89 of Derby, entered into eternal rest on April 27, 2012 at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Albert Joseph Grande, Sr.
Genevieve was born on September 9, 1922 in Derby, daughter of the late Pio and Esterina (Vitalli) Francini. She was employed as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant for many years at A.J. Pepe Food Co. until her retirement. Though a Waterbury resident from 1957 – 1992, Genevieve’s heart was always in Derby. She loved painting, playing the piano, visiting the casino, and, in her golden years, enjoyed watching sports. Most notably, Genevieve cherished spending time with her sisters, especially going out to eat and shopping.
Genevieve is the loving mother of Albert J. Grande, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Waterbury, and Robert J. Grande and his wife Mary of Branford; and the cherished grandmother of Allison, Steven, Jonathan, Jenna, and Jeffrey Grande. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Genevieve was predeceased by siblings, Nella Mattutini, Saturno “Fuzzy” Francini, Louis Francini, and Bernadena Coppola.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. On Monday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Derby. Entombment will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Garden Mausoleum, Derby.
