Genevieve Petroski, 96, of Derby, resident passed away Nov. 22, 2012 at Beacon Brook Health Center, where she had been a resident for the past two years and a former Derby resident for sixty-eight years. Born in Lackawanna, NY, on Nov. 16, 1916, daughter of the late Josef and Angeline Majeski.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leon, who died in 2009,her daughter, Kathleen Volk in 2005, three brothers and three sisters.
Genevieve will be remembered by those who loved her, as a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She lived her life quietly. A skilled homemaker, Jenny, was noted for her delicious family meals and comfort foods.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Patricia (David) Elmore, of Peoria, IL, Roberta (John) Buchter, of Savannah, GA, Geri (Ray) Biersbach, of Edmonds, WA, and Janice Pope of Shelton, CT. She is also survived by two sisters Violet and Angie of Wilkes-Barre, PA, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank to the staff at Beacon Brook Health Care and the Hope Team o f the VNA for their special care given during her stay. “Rest well mother, we love you more.”
Family and Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church. Her burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery.
