Genevieve Reilly, age 98, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday, November 28, 2014, at Hewitt Health & Rehab in Shelton. She was the devoted wife of the late Thomas I. Reilly. Genevieve was born in Derby on July 29, 1916, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Hassett) Moore, and lived in Shelton most of her life.
She was an employee of the Shelton Board of Education, and worked in the cafeteria at Shelton High School and the Shelton Intermediate School before she retired. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and was active in the St. Joseph Rosary Society, the Altar Care Society, and was a longtime St. Joseph carnival volunteer and a money counter. Genevieve also volunteered at the Shelton Senior Center.
She is the beloved mother of Thomas Reilly (Verneve), Shelia Wheeler (Fran), Kathleen Dittmar (Alan), and Marie Reilly Liska. She also leaves seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Moore, and two sisters, Marie Cascone and Anna Cook.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 2 to 5 PM. Her procession will leave Riverview on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
