Genevieve V. Kapusta Dziekan

Genevieve V. Kapusta Dziekan, age 87, of North Branford, entered into rest on June 30, 2013 in CT Hospice, with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Henry S. Dziekan, Sr. 

She was born in Derby on April 25, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Snopkowski Kapusta. Except for spending the last five years in North Brandford, Genevieve was a lifelong resident of Derby, who graduated from St. Michael’s Catholic Grammar School and Derby High School.

With her aptitude for numbers, Genevieve spent her early years as a bookkeeper but most of her life was spent as a homemaker. A devoted wife and mother, she always had a smile on her face and love for Jesus in her heart. Genevieve loved family, people, parties, bingo, traveling, dancing the polka and a big UCONN girls basketball fan. Well known by her family and friends for her delectable pierogis, her home was the heartbeat of the family. She had a joyful spirit that soared when she was free. 

Genevieve is the loving mother of Henry, Jr. (Cathy), Andre, Daniel, Irene and Richard (Kristen) Dziekan all of CT and James Dziekan of Arizonia, loving grandmother of Salvatore Sam”, Henry III, Brett, Garett, David, Christina, Victoria, and great grandmother of Jeremy. She is the sister of Salome Sally” Spak. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews who adored her as she made each one feel special. 

Genevieve was predeceased by her infant son Joseph, seven brothers, Albert, Stanley, John, Casimir, Anthony, Edward and Andrew Kapusta and five sisters, Josephine, Mary, Antoinette, Helen and Victoria Vicky”.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. On Wednesday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Church. Her burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
