George Chebro, age 89, of Derby entered into rest on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the beloved husband of 67 years of Marie Regina (Hamary) Chebro.
George was born in Nanticoke, PA on June 28, 1928, son of the late John and Anna (Sabol) Chebro, and has lived in Derby since 1956. He served his country with the United States Navy, and retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after 39 years of service as an engineer/draftsman. George was an avid bowler and was a longtime member and officer of the Greater Bridgeport Norwalk Bowling Association. He was also an active committee member and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America Derby Troop 3.
He is the beloved father of Michael Chebro, Thomas Chebro, and Robert Chebro. He also leaves a brother, Steven Janso, two sisters, Ruth Walting and Esther Santuk, seven cherished grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Sister Linda Chebro RSM and by his sister
Catherine Janso. Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. On Thursday, his procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Church. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby.
