Georgia M. Oko, age 82, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is the devoted wife of 57 years of Walter Oko. Georgia was born in Derby on March 18, 1941, daughter of the late Timothy and Anna (Hallaman) McCormack, and lived in Shelton for most of her life.
She graduated from Derby HS, Class of 1958, where she served as a class officer and was a majorette. Georgia was an enthusiastic “Sports Mom”, and loved to watch her children and grandchildren compete. She enjoyed traveling and baking and volunteering her time at the Shelton Senior Center.
She is the beloved mother of Walter Oko and his wife Tina and Tom Oko and his wife Barb, and proud grandmother of Mikayla, Christopher, Haley, and Ethan. She also is survived by her sister, Shirley Erickson.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Thursday, January 4, from 4 to 6 PM. On Friday her procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Lawrence Church in Shelton. Burial will follow in Huntington Lawn Cemetery South.
