Gerald E. Young Sr., age 84, of Trumbull, passed away July 19, 2017 in Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Ansonia, CT to the late Edward and Myrtle Young and was a lifelong area resident.
He retired from SNET after many years of service. Mr. Young was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed watching the UConn Huskies Women’s Basketball Team, spending his Tuesday mornings with his coworkers at Kings Coffee Shop in Monroe and attending the Ansonia Senior Center on Thursdays. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pauline Rhodes Young. Survivors include his five children Gerald Jr., and his wife JoAnn of FL, Cheryl Miko and her husband Daniel of Seymour, Kenneth and his wife Lisa of Seymour, Susan Graham and her husband Mark of Trumbull, and Karen Stull and her husband Scott of NC, his sister Myrtle Wells of Southbury, his grandchildren, Travis Young, Sean and his wife Kelli Young, Rebecca Miko, Alex and his wife Kayla Miko, Emily Miko, Kyle and his wife Sarah Young, Jonathan Graham and Stephanie Stull; one great grandson Mason and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Rd. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull.
