Geraldine Barbera, 80, passionately known as “Gerry”, peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 15, 2015.
Gerry was born in Ansonia on Dec. 8, 1934, daughter of the late Anthony and Anna DelVecchio Barbera Sr. She was employed at VARCA in Derby for many years and enjoyed riding her bicycle, taking the ferry to Port Jefferson and going for long walks. She especially enjoyed her visit to Disney World last summer and will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt and friend.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Anna M. Cowell of Seymour, with whom she made her home, a brother, Joseph Barbera (Elizabeth) of Derby, a niece, Elaine Barbera of North Haven, a nephew, Anthony Barbera (Kazimiera) of Ansonia and many great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and her beloved dog Princess. She was predeceased by brothers, Anthony and Johnny Barbera and a brother in law, Walter R. Cowell.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday June 19, 2015, from 5 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 7:00 pm, a funeral service in celebration of Gerry’s life will take place with Deacon Richard Renker officiating. Burial will be private.
