Giustina Vanchot

Giustina C. Tina” Vanchot, 87, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 20, 2016, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. She was the beloved wife of the late Andre H. Frenchie” Vanchot.

Mrs. Vanchot was born in Naples, Italy on April 26, 1929, daughter of the late Giovanni and Carmela Buonincontro DiGiacomo. A resident of Derby since 1958, she was employed as a seamstress at the former Slim Fit Dress Company. Following her marriage to Andre in 1962, together they founded A.H.V. General Welding and Fence Company in Derby, which they successfully managed for many years until their retirement. In their later years, they spent the winter months in Florida socializing with their French Canadian friends and playing bingo. Tina was a former member of the Sons of Italy in Derby. She enjoyed dancing with Andre and visiting Atlantic City with dear friends, cooking Sunday dinners for her children and grandchildren, highlighted by celebrating Christmas Eve surrounded by extended family. More than anything, she loved camping in the summertime with the family at Charlestown Breachway in Rhode Island.

She is survived by loving sons, Earl Robinson (Geraldine) of Derby, Edward Vanchot (Ellen) of Milford and Andre Vanchot (Kessa Halo) of Derby, loving daughters, Linda Robinson of Ansonia and Catherine Albarella (Michael) of Derby, brothers, Giovanni DiGiacomo (Margaret) of Derby, Salvatore DiGiacomo of Seymour and Gerardo DiGiacomo of FL, a sister, Anna Maria Weitzler (Peter) of Ansonia, cherished grandchildren, Earl Edward Robinson (Maggie), Amanda Robinson (David Visconti), V.J. Pinero, Nicolas, Jacqueline and Michael Vanchot, Andrea and Alexa Albarella, great-grandsons, Earl Joseph and Jacob Daniel Robinson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, Earl C. Robinson, a brother, Antonio DiGiacomo, sisters, Consiglia Vozza and Maria Rotondi and sisters in law, Patricia and Kathy DiGiacomo. 

Visiting hours will be held on Friday September 23, 2016, from 4 – 8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, her funeral will commence at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
