Gloria M. Trella, 84, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, November 14, 2016, at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter E. Trella.
Mrs. Trella was born in Derby on July 31, 1932, daughter of the late Harry and Mary Banfe Francolini.
A former resident of Ansonia, she resided in Seymour for 15 years.
Gloria was employed in the customer service dept. at Research Publications in Woodbridge and later at St. Joseph’s Manor in Trumbull. She was a devoted communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Ansonia where she served as former president of the Ladies Guild. At St. Anthony’s, she was awarded the St. Joseph’s Medal of Appreciation from the Archdiocese of Hartford for her devotion to her church. Gloria was an avid fan of UConn Women’s basketball, New England Patriots, Roseland Pizza and enjoyed playing Bingo. She loved being surrounded by her family and grandchildren, especially on holidays. She was a fantastic Italian cook, known for her passatelli soup, crescia bread and many other Marchigian dishes. She was a sacrificial mother who donated a kidney to her daughter, Lorraine, several years ago. Gloria set the perfect example of strength, love and dedication to her family and friends throughout her life.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Champion (Kenneth) of New Fairfield and Joanne Frosceno (Glen), of Seymour, with whom she made her home, a son, Walter Trella (Donna) of Moor Park, CA, cherished grandchildren, Allison and Adam Frosceno, Sara Champion, Katie Nelson (Sean), Jacob and Andrew Trella, great-grandsons, Wyatt and Emmett Champion and Louis Nelson, sister in law, MaryAnn Francolini of Ansonia, cousin, Geraldine Peter (Joe) of Ansonia and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lorraine Trella, a brother, Harry Francolini and her aunt, Josephine Voccia.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, her funeral will commence at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
