Gloria (Markette) Hersh, 86, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 13, 2019, at Griffin Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Silas (Si) Hersh.
Born in Derby October 9, 1932, Gloria was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Josephine Culotta Markette. As a longtime resident of Ansonia, Gloria was an avid bowler who enjoyed traveling, singing and ballroom dancing in her younger years, and loved playing Bingo and Pinochle. Working as a secretary, Gloria retired working for the Government Purchasing Office stationed at Sikorsky Aircraft.Gloria is survived by her son, Nicholas Hersh (Cheryl) of Monroe, daughter, Karen Smith of Ansonia, sister, Nancee Ostrowski (Henry) of Nashua, NH, grandchildren, Carl Smith Jr. (Elizabeth), Erin Discko (Lou), Nicholas Hersh (Megan), Jesse Hersh and Emily Sciortino (James), great-grandchildren, Carl Smith III, Sabrina, Abigail and Benjamin Discko, Allie Hersh and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Carl Smith Sr. and a sister, Marion Mullins.
Friends and family may call on Thursday January 17, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
