Gloria S. Ward, age 86, wife of 66 years to George Ward Jr. and resident of Shelton, passed away Jan. 13, 2019.
She was born June 14, 1932 in Ontario, N.Y. daughter of the late Peter & Lucy Deseyn Sarazyn. Gloria graduated Wayne Central School in 1951, where she was class Treasurer and Queen of the Prom junior year.
Gloria was an active member of The Huntington United Methodist Church. She participated in several Bible study groups and she was former Chaplin of the Gideon Auxiliary.
She was a member of The Harmony Grange #92 in Monroe, Nutmeg Pomona Grange and the CT State and National Grange. She was also a member of The Derby and Shelton Senior Centers and The A.A.R.P.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her 3 sons Gerald Ward (Dorothy) of Endicott, N.Y., Richard Ward of Seymour and Franklin Ward (Lynne) of Farmington Hills, Michigan. 2 daughters Barbara Ward of Dennysville, Maine and Jeannette Greathouse (Charles Michael) of Oxford, her sister Shirley Vaden of Webster, N.Y., 8 grandchildren Dr. Jeffrey, Jonathon & James Ward, Rex Roberts, Michael, Sara & Kelly Greathouse and Valerie Ward and 5 great grandchildren, Benjamin George, Julianna, Grace, Olivia and Ona Ward.
She was predeceased by her twin brothers, John & Peter Sarazyn Jr. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26 at The Huntington United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. She will be buried privately in the family plot in Furnaceville, N.Y.
