Grace A. Rourke

Grace A. Rourke, age 93 of Shelton, wife of the late James Rourke, passed away January 6, 2014 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford.

Grace was born in Derby, October 20, 1920, daughter of the late Thomas and Marion (Bresnan) Kendrick.

Grace worked as a secretary for the Shelton Board of Education for 13 years and was a former president of the Ladies Guild of St. Margaret Mary Church, past president of the Griffin Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and a former member of the St. Joseph’s Assembly, Catholic Ladies of Columbus.

She is survived by her son, Albert Rourke and his wife Edna of Shelton; grandchildren, James Rourke and his wife Laurel of Seymour and Thomas Rourke and his fiancée Beth Rawson of Shelton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. in St. Margaret Mary Church, Shelton. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in the JAMES T. TOOHEY & SON FUNERAL HOME, 92 HOWE AVE., SHELTON.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Grace’s memory to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
