Grace Gilbert, 91 of Derby and wife of the late David Gilbert, entered into eternal rest July 3.
She was born April 7, 1932 in Providence, R.I., daughter of the late John and Grace Evans Gill.
A graduate of Shelton High School and Stone Business Academy. She was the bookkeeper for family owned business, Ideal Engine & Mower Service. She was a member of The Church of The Good Shepherd in Orange and St. David’s, Englewood, FL where she was a member of The Daughter’s Of The King. She was an active participant in the Order Of Rainbow for Girls as a youth and an adult advisor. She was also an active member of Azalea Chapter #2, Lucia Chapter #25 O.E.S. , and is Past Worthy Grand Matron of CT. O.E.S.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Deborah G. Zaleha (Bill) Bonnie G. Edelen (Paul) Nadine Gilbert and Trudy Lasky (Ray). She loved family and spending time with her 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son David W. Gilbert Jr., 4 brothers & 2 sisters.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with O.E.S. memorial services at 6:30 at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Orange. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton. Donations in her memory may be made to The Smilow Cancer Research Center.
