Harold “Buddy” Stanchfield, age 77, of Shelton, entered into eternal rest on March 24, 2023, at Bridgeport Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of 53 ½ years to Patricia (Savarese) Stanchfield.
He was born on June 19, 1945 to the late Omar and Hazel Stanchfield, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine and moved to Shelton when he was ten years old. He attended Shelton schools and graduated from Shelton High School in 1964.
Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Buddy started his career at B.F. Goodrich, Hull Dye, and for most of his career with Mobil Chemical Corporation until his retirement in 2007.
Buddy is the devoted father of Thomas Stanchfield and his wife Stacey of Parkland, FL and Tara Stanchfield of Stamford, CT, loving grandfather of Evan, Andrew, and Jacob. He is also survived by his loving family, Anthony Savarese and his wife Lisa, Joseph Savarese and his wife Cheryl, Maureen Stachowicz and her husband George, sisters Sharon Emery and Bari Reali and her husband Vince, cousins, Kathleen Horahan, Mary Ellen Russell and Gary Macek and his wife Cindy, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his loving in-laws Tom and Jackie Savarese, who loved him as their “third son”. Buddy was the most loving, supportive, and proud father and grandfather. He was truly their number one fan. The “boys”, his grandsons, were the “light of his retirement life”. Poppy adored and embraced every moment that he spent with them.
He loved the Shelton community and was so proud of his town. He was an avid sports fanatic and fan. He coached Shelton Little League, Shelton Biddy Basketball, and St. Joseph’s Grammar School Girls Basketball. Buddy enjoyed his time with his friends and neighbors. He loved trips to Aruba, the Bahamas, and Atlantic City with his wife, Kathy, John, Anthony, and Lisa. He loved visits to Florida with family and special friends, the Weislers.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of Yale New Haven and Bridgeport Hospitals. Special thanks to Dr. Allen Rodriguez and friend and Doctor, John Farens, and special friend Barbara Clifford.
