Harriet A. Mikos

Harriet A. Mikos, age 87, of Shelton, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Griffin Hospital, Derby. She is the devoted wife of 55 years to Henry J. Mikos. 

Mrs. Mikos was born in Derby on July 14, 1925, daughter of the late William and Eva (Kzastak) Piwowarski, and was a lifelong Valley resident.

Harriet was a master seamstress and she was sought out to work with clothing designers in the 70’s. She worked in the purchasing department of Black and Decker until retirement, and she volunteered at Griffin Hospital and Hospice. She was also a member of the Shelton Sr. Citizen Center and a longtime communicant of St. Joseph’s Church Shelton.

She is the beloved mother of Maria Casey, Mark Mikos„ and Marsha L. Mikos. She is the cherished grandmother of Tawnia, Loren, and Catlin Rae Casey, and Angelica and Hannah Mikos. She also leaves two adoring great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Chester, and William Piwowarski.

Friends may greet her family on Friday from 5 to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road Shelton. On Saturday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Ave. Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery Derby.
