Harriet Leahy Clark, age 93, of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late Peter P. Clark, Jr., entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Derby on May 28, 1924, daughter to the late John and Alice Greene Leahy.
Harriet attended Assumption School of Ansonia and Ansonia High School, Class of 1944. She was a devout communicant and Eucharistic Minister of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Seymour and was a member of and past President of Our Lady Society 1976 – 1977, a member of the Bingo Committee and received the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation from the Church. She was also active at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford as a member of the Ladies Guild and the Bingo Committee. Harriet was a member of the Red Hats of Seymour, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians where she was named Irish Woman of the Year in 1995 and was a volunteer at St. Peter and St. Paul School of Ansonia where she was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 1991. Harriet worked as an Aide at the Ansonia Middle School for many years. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. Harriet will be sadly missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
Harriet is survived by her loving family, devoted daughter Colleen Tingley of Seymour, son P. Thomas Clark of East Hartford, granddaughter Amanda Clark and her wife Judy of Torrington and her great- grandson Patrick Clark, sister Ann Wright and several nieces and nephews. Also, her extended family Lena Sbardelatti, Jim, Michelle and Emilia Mead and Thomas, Lisa, Zachary and Tyler Pranger. In addition to her husband Peter, she was predeceased by her beloved grandson Troy Clark, her brothers John F. Leahy and James E. Leahy and Colleen’s beloved partner Vincent Mancini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 am DIRECTLY at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment at St. Augustine Cemetery of Seymour will follow. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Rt. 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital through the funeral home.
