Harriet Jean Gabinelli, age 91, entered into eternal rest on September 6, 2022, at Shady Knoll Health Care Center in Seymour. She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel A. Gabinelli.
Harriet was born at home in Ansonia on August 1, 1931, daughter of the late Andrew and Esther Horbal Hylwa. A resident of Seymour for twenty-four years, Harriet was employed as a secretary in the central office of the Ansonia Board of Education until her retirement. Harriet was a devout communicant of Holy Rosary Church where she was a member of the Rosary Guild, volunteered at coffee hour following Masses and worked at the annual Italian Festa. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sharing her recipes with family and friends. Harriet was fond of weekly shopping trips.
Harriet leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Joseph R. Gabinelli of FL and Michael P. Gabinelli of CA, a sister, Elizabeth Bible (Victor) of Simsbury CT, grandchildren, Sherry Gabinelli, Joseph Gabinelli Jr., and Rachel May Gabinelli (Dusty), and great-grandson Jasper Quinn Gabinelli. She also leaves several special nieces and grand nieces and nephews in CT and VA. Harriet was predeceased by an infant daughter, Jean Gabinelli and brothers, Andrew Hylwa Jr. and Donald Hylwa.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 9:30 – 10:30 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Her funeral will then proceed to Holy Rosary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Entombment will immediately follow in Mount Saint Peter’s Garden Mausoleum in Derby.
