Harry James (Jim) Greer, age 83, longtime resident of Monroe CT, passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2020 surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved husband to Wally Greer for many wonderful years. Jim was born in Bridgeport, on March 31, 1937 the son of late Helen and Harry J. Greer. Jim was raised in Bridgeport and was a 1966 high honor graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Bridgeport Engineering Institute.
He worked at DuPont as a mechanical engineer for over 30 years before retirement. Jim was an avid sports fan always rooting for his NY Mets and NY Giants teams. He was also a dedicated coach for his two sons in the Town of Monroe always willing to jump in and volunteer for his children. Jim also enjoyed frequent trips to Arizona to spend time with friends. In his earlier years he was a Duckpin bowler at the Barnum Alleys in Stratford.
Most of all, Jim loved the times that he spent with his family in his home welcoming everyone who entered with his contagious smile and a joke or two. Being a family man truly defined who Jim was and his children and grandchildren filled his heart with pride.
In addition to Wally, his loving wife he leaves behind his daughters: Cindy McNeill of New Milford, CT and Karen Greer of Stratford, CT; sons James Greer and his wife Cathryn of Shelton, CT and John (Jack) Greer and his partner Christina Martin of Bridgeport, CT; nine loving grandchildren: James Chause, Kristen Gavel, Amanda Greer, Danny Gough and Patrick Gough and Jackson, Harrison, Anderson, and Sarah Greer as well as 5 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Elaine Bojarczyk and her husband Stanley of Bridgeport, CT as well as several nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Pala and brother Eugene Greer.

Due to the current health situation, funeral and interment services will be held privately for immediate family only. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date . Arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home in Shelton.
