Hazel Curtis

Hazel June (Dimon) Curtis passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on January 25, 2017. 

She was born July, 7, 1925 in the White Hills section of Shelton. She was the daughter to the late Frederick and Leah Beckwith Dimon. 

She was predeceased by the love of her life Carroll Chubby” Curtis after 57 years of marriage. Hazel was the sole survivor of 8 siblings, Marcus Wiley” (Sylvia), Earl, Kenneth (Gladys), Alfred (Betty), James Bernard” (Rose) Dimon, Shirley (Charles) Cornut and Doris Bud” (Harold) Blakeman. She is survived by her daughters Darlene (Durando) Cavallaro, Carol Faught, Debra (Arthur) Stanchina, Jill (Vincent) Frager and her son Kelly and his wife Janet who has been the faithful caregiver to Hazel over the years, 12 Grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Except for her husband, she is predeceased by all her son in laws and her great granddaughter Brionna. 

Hazel worked at home to raise her family over many years only to be the cook for Derby Day Care until her retirement. Hazel was always known for her ability to make anything taste good and for the lives she touched over the years within the Valley and the area for the beautiful wedding cakes that she has made for multiple generations. Hazel was a 60 year plus member of the Oxford Grange as well as a member and past president of the Hotchkiss Hose Ladies Auxiliary. 

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. from The First United Methodist Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
