Hedwig “Pat” (Rek) Ploch

Hedwig Pat” (Rek) Ploch, age 97 of Oxford, entered peaceful rest on January 16, 2021, at Glendale Center, Naugatuck. She was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late John M. Ploch. Pat was born May 4, 1923, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Bartosiak) Rek. 

Pat was retired from the Footwear Division of Uniroyal, Naugatuck. She had great stories of also working at Westover School and G. C. Murphy Store. She was a long-time communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford where she sang with the choir, ran the baked goods table at the church fair, and was a member of the Ladies Guild. Pat enjoyed bingo, bowling, making crafts, and working at the polls on election day. She was always involved in her children’s activities of music, dance and scouting; and loved to tease and laugh with family and friends. 

Pat leaves her loving family including her son, Peter Ploch and his wife Carol of Cheshire; her daughter, Diane Ploch and companion Michael Kraemer of Oxford; grandchildren, Amanda Ploch Brumfield and her husband Ryan of Apex, NC, and Eric Ploch and his fiancé Mary Beth King of Chicago, IL; her great granddaughter Nora Grace Brumfield, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Her brothers, Charles, James, William, Julius, and Francis, and sisters, Sophie, Helen, Frieda, Margaret, Mary, and Florence predeceased her. The family would like to thank the staff of Glendale Center for their care and attention.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thurs., Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford. There are no calling hours. Interment will be at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Memorial gifts may be sent to St. Thomas the Apostle Church or Seymour Oxford Food Bank. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W.
