Helen E. Bystryk, 83, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 6, 2012, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry J. Bystryk.
Mrs. Bystryk was born in Ansonia on May 24, 1928, daughter of the late Zygmunt and Anna Lizewski Sokolnicki. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, she was employed as a bookkeeper and secretary at the former Connecticut Narrow Fabrics in Ansonia. Helen was a devoted communicant of St. Joseph Church in Ansonia and a member of its choir. She was also a member of the Polish Falcons Nest 212, “Northender’s Club” in Ansonia, and was active in all of the Valley Senior Centers.
She is survived by two sons, Henry J. Bystryk (Carmela) and Arthur J. Bystryk (Cheryl) of Naugatuck, a sister, Mary Kalentek (Joseph) of Ansonia, three grandchildren, Melissa Ferrucci (Louis) of Terryville, and Michael and Sarah Bystryk of Naugatuck, two great-grandsons, Vincent and Gino Ferrucci, her loving companion and dance partner, Alan Simpson of Ansonia and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Edward, Albin, Walter, Stanley, Charles, and Henry Sokolnicki and a sister Bernice Tesch.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday April 11, 2012, at 11:15 am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon at St. Joseph Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on TUESDAY from 4 – 7 pm. Contributions may be made to the Valley Food Bank through the funeral home.
