Helen K. Sicilia, age 97, of Derby entered into rest on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Griffin Hospital. She was the devoted wife of over 50 years to Pasquale “Patsy” Sicilia.
Helen was born in Ansonia on April 25, 1925 daughter of the late Harry and Frances (Winnick) Kuspinsky and was a lifelong valley resident. She was an electrical assembler at Sikorsky Aircraft for many years until her retirement. Helen was a former member of the Eastside Italian Club. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading in her spare time. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. Helen was especially grateful to her nieces Mari Martino and Michelle Wysowski for the excellent care they gave her during her several stays at Griffin Hospital through the years along with the wonderful care she received from the staff at Shelton Lakes.
She was the beloved mother of Patricia Serke and her husband Joseph and Carol Holzbar and her partner Chris Cole, loving grandmother of Kyle Holzbar and his wife Mariah, Ross Holzbar, Joseph Serke and his wife Rebekah and Josette Serke and great grandmother of Riley Jean Holzbar, MarcAnthony Scaccia, Sabrina Scaccia, Isabella Serke and Kaylah Serke. She was also survived by several nieces, nephews and her extended family. Helen was predeceased by her brother Russell Kuspinsky and a sister Anna DellaRocco.
Friends may call on Friday morning from 8:30 to 10:15 AM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Church. Her burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery.
