Helen S. Kosowsky, age 105 of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Frank Kosowsky, peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2025 at Shady Knoll Health Care Center, Seymour, with her family by her side. Born in Ansonia on September 26, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Pavel and Anna Statkevich. Mrs. Kosowsky was a graduate of Ansonia High School and the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Griffin Hospital for over 30 years, until the time of her retirement in 1976.
Mrs. Kosowsky was a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia, where she was active on many committees throughout the years. She enjoyed traveling the world and together with her daughter, experienced many memorable cruises to the tropics and Alaska. In her senior years, Mrs. Kosowsky knitted or crocheted countless items for family and friends. As a centenarian, she was often found at her favorite restaurants, Fritz’s, McDonald’s, Duchess or Wendy’s!
She is survived by her devoted daughter with whom she resided, Nina Kosowsky of Shelton, and son, Paul S. Kosowsky and his wife, Elaine of Seymour; step-grandchildren, Brian King of Seymour and Nicolle Bodnar of PA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 42 years, Mrs. Kosowsky was predeceased by sisters, Mary Pawchyk and her husband, Dimetro and Olga Statkevich; and a brother, John Statkevich and his wife, Cecile.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, (Panakhida at 6:30 PM), at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and services at 10:00 AM in Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
