Helen W. (Wladyka) Whiteley, age 88, of Shelton, entered into rest on Feb. 22, 2015 in Griffin Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. She was the devoted wife of 65 years to Alton W. Whiteley.
Helen was born in Shelton on December 5, 1926, daughter of the late Maxim and Mary (Bik) Wladyka and was a lifelong Shelton residence.
Helen was a hairdresser who was employed at the former Beauty Box in Derby, various nursing homes in Shelton and New Haven. She also worked for her sister’s hair salon in Shelton. She loved gardening, animals, bird watching and swimming with her friends at the Huntington Community Center Pool.
She is the beloved mother of a daughter Cheryl M. Wright, loving sister of a brother, Walter Wladyka and a sister, Amelia Grele. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Michael Wladyka and two sisters Julia Adams and Anne Nasta.
The Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. have been entrusted with her arrangements. There will be no services.
