Henrietta Gumbrewicz, 92, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 28, 2013, at Gardner Heights in Shelton.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph I. Gumbrewicz Sr.
Mrs. Gumbrewicz was born in Ansonia on May 9, 1921, daughter of the late John and Alexandria Kolakowski Borkowski. She was a resident of Ansonia and Orange her entire life.
Henrietta began her career as a hairdresser in West Haven and later was employed at Schick Razor in Milford until her retirement. She enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, cooking and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a loving son, Joseph I. Gumbrewicz and his wife Jody of Oxford, a sister, Adele Hassler of Seymour, four cherished grandchildren, Cory, Joseph, Bucky and Rebecca Gumbrewicz of Oxford, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Edward, Manny, and Alfred Borkowski and sisters, Cecelia Drzewi and Genevieve and Helen Borkowski.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Friday May 31, 2013, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting will take place on FRIDAY MORNING from 8:30 am until the procession leaves for church at the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
