Henry A. “Hank” Barcley, 91, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2015, at CT Hospice, Branford, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of 66 years to Jean Stockmal Barcley and lived in the home they built on the Hilltop.
Mr. Barcley was born in Ansonia on July 17, 1924, son of the late Stanley and Stanislawa Wojcichowna Baclawski.
Hank attended schools in Ansonia and was married on Oct. 2, 1948. He was a WW II Army veteran and served as a medical corpsman in Rhineland, Central Europe. He was employed as a plumbing and heating contractor and for many years owned and operated three Milford-based businesses: Shoreline Plumbing and Heating Supply, Shoreline Power Equipment and Taylor Rental Center. After his first retirement in 1974, he worked for K‑Mart and later for TEAM in Derby as a weatherization program director for 10 years, finally retiring in 1988. Hank was a member of the V.F.W. (life member), Devon Lions Club, St. Joseph Church Men’s Club, Milford Power Squadron and East End Yacht Club (life member), where he held various offices for these organizations. He was an avid fisherman who knew the best fishing locations in Long Island Sound, according to his fishing buddies. He also enjoyed reading and feeding and watching “his” backyard birds and squirrels. Earlier hobbies included boating, scuba diving and flying small aircraft as a private pilot. Hank was a wonderful husband and father with a strong sense of family values. He was also a loyal friend. When someone needed a hand with a project, he was always one of the first to pitch in. Hank, may you enjoy a well-deserved rest in Heaven. We love you deeply and miss you!
