Henry “Chic” Tylinski

Henry Chic” Tylinski, age 94, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Jewish Senior Services in Bridgeport.

He was the devoted husband for over 50 years to the late Helen (Belchak) Tylinski. Chic was born in Derby on January 14, 1928, son of the late Stanislaus and Aneila (Pryzybla) Tylinski. He was raised in Ansonia before moving to Shelton for over 60 years.

Chic proudly served with the U.S. Army in Korea and Germany during the Korean War. He was a baseball coach in the Shelton Pony League, Little League and Babe Ruth League. He enjoyed listening to music (country his favorite) and was also an avid sports fan (NY Giants, NY Yankees and UConn girls). He retired from the Shelton Post Office in 1992 after 30 years of service. Once retired, he was thrilled to get a part-time job at Whitney Farms Golf Course and was able to spend his days enjoying his greatest passion of playing golf and enjoying the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble all his life, and later played pool at the Shelton Senior Center. During his latter years, he’d look forward to his annual Snowbird get-away to Florida where he’d play Horseshoes, Bocce, Shuffleboard, Pool, Swim, and of course Golf. He would frequently call his children to brag how nice the Florida weather was when he knew they were freezing in CT or were shoveling out from a snowstorm. But most of all, he cherished spending time with his children — whether it included one of his favorite hobbies or just hanging out and enjoying some food and maybe a nip (or a few). The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Laurie VanCleft for her unwavering support, care and compassion for Chic and his family during his time at Jewish Senior Services.

Chic was the beloved father of Gary Tylinski and his wife Janet of Lebanon, CT and Gale Hawks and her husband Rusty of Stratford, CT. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Chic was predeceased by four brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Charles and Victor Tylinski and three sisters, Rose Lucarelli, Alice Adamowski and Jean Trimarchi.
